The CTECS Electrical Program prepares students to apply technical knowledge and skills in:

Residential wiring, commercial wiring, industrial wiring, solar installation, low voltage, temperature controls, energy management, data/voice wiring, motor controls, lighting, generators and transfer switches

Graduates can enter a variety of high-technology positions or continue their studies at postsecondary institutions. The following occupations are achievable based on education level:

  • Solar Installer
    May require postsecondary education

  • Electrical Contractor
    May require postsecondary education

  • Electrical Journeyman
    May not require postsecondary education

  • Electrical Engineer
    May require postsecondary education

  • Electrical Apprentice
    May not require postsecondary education

  • Temperature Controls Contractor

Connecticut Technical Education and Career System’s Electrical course breakdown by grade. Each student is required to complete four years of a Career Technical Education program.
